Asia Travel
I just returned from Hong Kong. Going there makes me appreciate Taipei. Although both cities are massive - as in population - tall buildings, I always experience a type of culture shock when in HK. Maybe it’s the opposite side of the road driving, or the mountainous bus rides - when you look down the mountainside you see supper tall buildings, and it makes you kind of dizzy. Anyway, I arrived back in Taipei tonight and Jackie flew on to Thailand from HK. He will be gone for 8 days. Upon arrival at TPE, I caught the city bus to get me back to the main station, then to catch a Taxi to take me home. THe reason I’m making an entry here is because of the taxi ride. I waved this guy down, and he pulled up - I motioned for him to pop the trunk - he did, then I motioned for him to lift my (heavy) bag into the trunk, so he got out of the car - next time I know, the car is moving forward - and he is running to open his door and hop in to put it in park. I’m just glad it wasnt in reverse - he would have ran over me. So , the bag’s in the trunk and we are now headed towards the apt - and I can’t help but smile at the music from his cd player. Doly Parton - “Save the last dance for me”. It’s jsut so funny to be in an Asian country, and to be listening to boot scooting music. The next 2 songs were CW also. When he got me to my apt, he automatically got out and got my bag out of the trunk. I tipped him. ![]()
