After our big meeting was over I stayed in town. I have tacked 4 days vacation onto the end so that I could take the Open Water scuba certification course. Today was day three. This a dive boat almost exactly like the one I was on, anchored in the cove where I dove.
DiveBoat

Day one was classroom with videos and tests. Day two was closed water (swimming pool) testing. Today, day three, was open water skills testing. We went out on a dive boat to the open ocean, first to a sunken ship and then to an island. I didn’t get to dive the shipwreck – it’s deeper than I will be certified for. After several on the boat dove to see it, we went on to a protected cove that had shallower water. My instructor and I did a 20 – 30 minute dive where I demonstrated some of the same skills we did in the pool. It was not too bad. More coral and fish than I would have thought. We then had some lunch on the boat followed by another dive, a bit deeper, much like the first. Although exhausting, it is very fun. Tomorrow are two more dives & certification!
