Yesterday, Fran and I had a lunch date. We don’t often meet on a weekday for lunch - but yesterday we did. She rode the subway to the part of town near where I work. After she got back above ground and called me, we met at one of the few Western restaurants in the area for a lunch of good hamburgers. After the lunch we took care of the real reason for the date . . . getting a phone number blocked so that she would no longer receive daily Chinese messages selling who knows what. They come from the phone company so the only way to block them is to take your passport to their office (to prove you are who you say you are) and make the request. Success! She will no longer be pestered by unreadable daily text messages on her phone.

What in the world does that have to do with Childhood memories? . . . .

After leaving the phone company office we saw a sign at an adjacent building that cause us both to do a double take:

I don't know about you, but I rarely have childhood memories of shredded sweet potatoes

The traffic cameras in Taipei caught me. You almost never see a policeman - especially one enforcing traffic laws. I was caught on camera traveling 65 KPH in a 50 KPM zone. For those not on the metric system, it’s not as bad as it sounds. That converts to roughly 40 MPH in a 30 MPH zone.
