Fran’s Mission Moment #2
Mission Moment by Fran #2

Prayer is the greatest extension of God’s loving hand in my absence.
One of the most difficult things for a missionary is to be away from family as our loved ones face times of great difficulty back home. Currently, my sister and her husband are walking a very hard road with their daughter who has chosen the prodigal path. All I can do from this side of the world is pray! But God reminds me that is the foremost thing I could do even if I were in the same country and city.
Technology is an extension of God’s loving hand in my absence.
I am so thankful for high-speed Internet – where I can chat with my sister nearly daily though instant messenger. And I am so thankful that we have a Dallas phone line that rings here – so she and I can pray together over the phone, weep together through this sad time, and even laugh together as God blesses us with moments of comic relief.
Friends back home are an extension of God’s loving hand in my absence. My sister phoned to tell me that she received a package in the mail from one of my sweet friends. The day she received this package was on a day of great difficulty for my sister concerning her daughter. The package contained a note of encouragement and a print of a lamppost painted by my artist friend, inscribed with Psalms 119:105. My friend had no idea the degree of difficulty my sister faced, she was simply obeying God in the sending of her gift. My sister has great plans as to where to hang this precious gift! My heart is full with great gratitude that my best friend, Jesus, would touch the heart of a sweet friend to move her to such an act of kindness towards my precious sister.
My church back home is an extension of God’s loving hand in my absence.
Our church home faithfully mails us DVD’s with the weekly message and worship service. Pastor Steve delivers a great message of hope for the prodigals in his “Relationships Matter”, message series. His powerful biblical message found in “Loving Yourself” fans aflame hope for my prodigal niece. I’m in the process of arranging this DVD to be sent to my sister and her husband. Please pray with me for the timeliness of delivery and that hope will be flamed afresh in their hearts to give them strength during this difficult time.
God is faithful to show me over and over again, He is in control and I am not, and I am simply to step in the flow of his activity and be a part of his work here in Taiwan where he has called me to serve. God is extending his love to my family back home in ways that make a lasting difference, for…His hand of love extends around the world!

Thank you Fran. It is difficult for the families back home also, when we know our loved ones on the field are facing difficulty. Technology is so wonderful and I am thankful cell phones have worked in Nicaragua this week even when the electriciy is out thus no internet and email to correspond with.
I hope those of us here in the states gave you a little of what you needed from us while you were here. Yes, you blessed me during your stay.
I am preparing to lead the Ladies Prayer Group tonight and your words/thoughts have encouraged me.
